Intro

It's that time again!  It's time to get back in shape.  My husband and I are planning to try for baby #2 next year and I want to get in really good shape beforehand.  I decided to do another workout blog in preparation to help keep me motivated.  I really think it helped last time since I only gained 19 pounds my entire pregnancy.  My last pregnancy was very healthy even though I didn't work out at all after I got pregnant.  I want to do it again and hopefully have the same results.  Originally I wanted to approach getting pregnant differently.  I told my husband I was okay not necessarily trying but not really not trying and just seeing what happens.  Have it happen naturally whenever to take the stress off and get a little surprise.  However, as it stands now, my husband wants to plan for this one exactly the same as last time.  We talked about it and April is what we're going to aim for.  So in the mean time I'm going to work on myself.

I'm going to approach things differently this time though.  Working out every day isn't a realistic goal.  Especially considering I have a baby now.  I won't always have time to go work out.  Things will come up, the baby sitter will cancel, I'll get sick or the baby will get sick, etc.  I'm not going to track my weight or measurements this time either.  I won't have time for that and scales don't really reflect how in shape you are anyway.  Instead I'm just going to aim for working out 4 days a week.  That seems like an attainable goal so I'll try for that.  Either way I'll just do what I can.  I might not always have time to post a picture or video but I'll track my progress and do my best.

I've actually been working out quite a bit since having my son.  He was born in March of 2016 and I started Fit4Mom Stroller Strides in June when he was 3 months old.  I was very consistent and went at least 4 days a week.  It's basically a boot camp in the park you can take the baby to.  The baby sits in the stroller while you do burpees, planks, lunges, sit ups, exercises with bands, etc.  It was a great way to start the day and worked out perfectly.  We'd go in the morning and on the way back from the park he'd fall asleep and take his first nap of the day.  I met a lot of friends there that all have babies his age and we've formed play groups that I still go to today.  I did Fit4Mom for a year but I took Jan, Feb and March off because it was too cold to take the baby to the park in the mornings then.  I ended up quitting Fit4Mom in June of 2017 because we moved to West Hills and it was too far away to continue.  Plus, it became very difficult to get through a workout with the baby being older.  He didn't want to sit in the stroller anymore.

I also went back to Pole in June of 2016.  I was going one to two times per week but it was hard to be consistent.  I needed a babysitter, plus one of the studios I started going to closed in July.  I stopped going to the other studio in October of 2016 because the instructor I liked stopped teaching there and they didn't offer any other classes I was interested in.  I also started doing Spin/Cycling classes on Saturdays in July, August and September but I couldn't always be consistent on weekends.  Plus, that studio closed down too.

I went back to Aerial in September of 2016 and have actually been pretty consistent.  Again, it is hard because of having to find a babysitter but I was able to go at least once a week.  In February of 2017 I was able to bump it up to 3 times a week and have been mostly consistent.  So I've been working out a good amount.  Some Fit4Mom days overlapped and I was working out twice a day even.

I joined the YMCA this past August.  It's great because the daycare is included so I don't need to find a babysitter.  I can just drop the baby off at the daycare, go work out and then pick him up after class.  I was feeling out their schedule but they have a lot of options and all the classes are included.  They have Cycling, Strength Training, Core Conditioning, Boot Camp, Lap Swim, plus the regular gym with weights and machines.  I prefer classes because unless someone gives me instruction I don't think I'd exercise.  I'm definitely going to try to go to the YMCA more often.  It's the most convenient option.

So even though I've been working out I haven't blogged about it.  But I think I've been doing pretty well.  Still I could do better so I'm going to try.
